Food & Climate Social Media

Total Credit Hours:

We are looking for all types of social media content that you believe will help us promote our courses, blogs, and volunteer opportunities. We are also looking to gain more followers and donations to help support our cause. Your social media posts will help us raise awareness about the environmental challenges within our local communities. For this section we are looking for posts that are about:

Food and climate are intricately connected, and social media is a powerful tool to highlight this relationship. Create posts that offer practical tips for reducing food waste, such as meal planning, finding creative ways to use leftovers, or starting a composting routine. Emphasize how small, everyday actions—like wasting less food—can collectively make a significant impact on the environment.

Encourage sustainable diets by promoting the use of seasonal, plant-based ingredients and supporting eco-conscious food choices. Highlight the importance of avoiding practices that harm the planet, such as overfishing or excessive reliance on animal agriculture. Inspire your audience with vibrant visuals of colorful, sustainable meals, and showcase local farmers and community markets where people can access fresh, locally grown produce with a lower carbon footprint. Short videos or photos of bustling markets and farms can make these ideas relatable and actionable.

Craft content that not only educates but also motivates your audience to take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable food system. By connecting food choices to climate action, your posts can inspire others to adopt habits that support a healthier planet. Use engaging, visually compelling content to show how thoughtful decisions around food can drive positive change for both people and the environment.

Instructions

We are looking to build a strong social media presence for our organization and we need your help. Our main goals for our social media campaign are to:

  • Raise brand awareness
  • Increase website traffic
  • Provide community service opportunities
  • Drive donations
  • Build meaningful relationships

We post on these social platforms, which requires these specific sizes:

  • Facebook (requires 940 x 788)
  • Instagram (requires 1080 x 1080)
  • Pinterest (requires 1000 x 1500)
  • TicTok (requires 1080 x 1920)
  • LinkedIn (requires 1200 x 1200)

You can use any tools you want to create social media posts. Most of our volunteers use Canva, which is free, but Canva will require you to create a free account. You will need to create your own account, as we will not provide one for you. You can use any images or graphics that you find on Canva, including Pro images. We have a paid account so we will be able to download and use the images and graphics you add to your designs.

For every 3 new posts you create, you will get 1 hour of credit. We are looking for new content. Copying and pasting content from one social media post to another will not give you more credit. To get credit, please provide the post image (or video), a title, and a description, along with the template link. To get the link in Canva, go to share, and click on "Template Link" (you may have to click see all). Click create template link and then copy and paste the link in our form. Please do not delete the link before we have had time to copy your design to our account.

You will not be required to post any content to your own social media site, and all we require is the template link and the post information.

Although it is not required, we ask that you try to use our brand kit when creating social media. We understand that you may not be able to use our branding colors and fonts for every design. Here is our branding information:

Ready to start creating social media posts? Don’t worry if you’re a beginner – it’s all about trial and error and finding your unique style. Experiment with different designs and be creative. Your effort is all that is required, and once we verify your designs, we will give you credit.
